A Case Study with Jeff Cornock, CEO, Y365
The Melbourne business now known as Y365 began as an add-on to an IBM mid-range software distribution and consulting practice, acquired to build a presence in the SMB market. It had been focused on break-fix work for too long, and surviving in the mature MSP sector meant serious change: new skills, new alignment, and a broader, more diverse customer base.
Trading as Xtensive Technology Solutions, the business built up its technical bench and its vendor partnerships across the SMB, corporate and enterprise markets. As more customers asked for help moving to hybrid and cloud-only environments, cloud moved to the centre of everything, and the business rebranded to Y365 to mark a firmly cloud-first future.
With a large cloud services deal on the horizon, the team did not have confidence that their incumbent cloud provider could support bigger clients with increasingly complex requirements. Given how fast demand for cloud was growing, that gap was a real risk, both to the business and to the clients relying on it.
So they went looking for a different kind of partner: one with the network resiliency and technical depth to handle serious cloud infrastructure, and the cultural fit to work alongside their own team.
“All business is built on relationships. It’s always people. You have to find a partner with similar values, that you can communicate and work with.”
After several conversations, the team partnered with Hosted Network, and together won a large cloud infrastructure and connectivity opportunity for a global car manufacturer. They co-sold the solution to the end-customer’s decision makers, then planned the migration in detail with the Hosted Network team, with no downtime as the priority. The multinational’s Australian arm moved fully into the cloud, and the result spoke for itself: staff carried on as normal, and only found out months later, in a company presentation, that they had been migrated at all.
“They migrated completely to the cloud and nobody knew!”
Partnering with Hosted Network gave Y365:
With Hosted Network behind them, Y365 can chase larger cloud deals without having to invest in and manage their own infrastructure. They treat the Hosted Network team as an extension of their own, leaning on that expertise for the complex situations rather than hiring for every skill in-house.
The partnership has opened new revenue streams and new co-sell wins, and cloud growth stays firmly at the top of Y365’s priorities.
“You can work with larger organisations, but you don’t always know who you’re dealing with. With Hosted Network, you can pick up the phone and escalate with people you know.”
